Grief is better shared

In 2009, The Kemmons Wilson Family Foundation made the lead gift in our capital campaign to build the Center on the campus of Baptist Memorial Hospital Collierville. It is one of two Memphis centers that provide grief support services.

Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief

Grief is real. Grief is big. Grief is better shared.

We all know that losing a loved one can be devastating. It is especially so for a child. When you are too young to fully process and understand the scope of the loss, the lingering sadness and frustration can last a lifetime.

Just over 20 years ago, Baptist Memorial Health Care introduced a new comprehensive bereavement program dedicated to the unique needs of children who had experienced the loss of a loved one. Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation provided a grant to help create the first bereavement center. Thanks to a transformative gift from the Wilson family, the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief was built adjacent to the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House on the campus of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville.

Today, the Grief Center serves not only hospice families, but the entire Mid-South community with campers traveling from hundreds of miles away to attend. It is the only comprehensive bereavement center for children, teens and adults in the region. Demands for our services remains high and our waiting list is quite extensive. We hope you will join us in growing our original Collierville campus and the vital services and support we provide for grieving children and their families.
